it’s not “I Need”, it’s “I Want”

Just a quick note to myself. I never “Need” anything - unless, of course, it’s surgery to save my life or something equally important.

That shiny, glossy screened, tiny, portable laptop with the really long battery life that only costs £299?

That fantastic piece of software that promises to increase my productivity by 10,000% if I only part with $20?

That DVD that I haven’t seen yet? The one I’m desparate to watch, and it so happens I’m staying in a hotel with nothing to do?

I never NEED these things, I just WANT them. In the long run, they join the pile of discarded shiny things that I have, akin to the junk collected by a magpie.

I never NEED, I only WANT. And I’m not going to buy it.

You need oxygen and water and fructose and vitamins.

So why not Evian? and thence starts the spiral to needing a Porsche, a load of junk and a second home.
