Your Author:
John. That’s me. I originally intended this to be an anonymous blog, but I realised that I had so much to say, and most of it would be tied to what I do, that it wouldn’t take anyone very long to work out who I was, and besides, anonymity on the internet is something you have to work VERY VERY hard at to do right. I just don’t have the patience for that sort of thing.
The Blog:
“That’s a bloody awful name. You should change it”. NO. Too late, the domain is registered, I’m here now. Besides, in the recent past I was going to create a wonderful, web based task management application, and I was going to call it “DoIt” (that’s Do It, as in the Nike slogan, not dolt, as in dummy, fool, idiot).
After five minutes of hard internet research I realised that the market was already swamped with task management apps and the one that I would learn a whole new programming language to create would quickly sink under the competition and not make me any money. So I didn’t bother. Besides, I’ve just started using Todoist and it has all the features I need, and therefore I save myself time AND effort. perfect.
But I had the domain, already registered, and the web space, already bought and paid for, and unlike other domain squatters I actually had the itch to DO something with it. So here we are. My blog, which will be no more famous than any other, but it’s my own little corner of the internet where I can talk about my struggle (ongoing) to control my finances, my procrastination, and occasionally about my job - or, at least, about the stuff I do that I can share with world (most of it is commercially confidential).
So here we are. Enjoy your stay. Abuse should be directed at john@getdoit.com, or you could always leave a comment.
